    Dive Team Whether you can do a back one-and-a-half-half-twist or just a cannonball, WES diving lessons and diving team can help improve your skills. Come on down for lessons with friendly intructors who will provide specific feedback to improve the dives you already know and to learn many others. If you've got that competitive edge, be sure to check out the dive team and take part in friendly competitions against other pools in the NAA on a weekly basis. No running on pool deck. Diving starts are only permitted during the last 5 minutes of the warm up period. Only swimming in one direction will be permitted during that time. Lane positions for the meet will be determined by club placing in the league standings. Lane Positions as of Aug 1st, 2023 (Subject to Change): Lane 3 = FVM Lane4= GLE Lane 2= ECC Lane 5=ELM Lane 1=VYC Lane 6 = WES Coaches A coaches meeting is scheduled at 8:15 a.m. beside the diving boards. A minimum of one coach per team must attend this meeting. Lunch coupons for each coach working the event will be handed out during this meeting. The competition will begin at 8:45. Please note the following: Events 10 years and under are 3 heats Events 11 years and up are 2 heats 1 relay per age group per pool Slowest heat first, fastest heat last (opposite to dual meets) Maximum of 2 alternates on the back of each relay card Coaches must submit entries to VP of Swimming by July 30th in the agreed upon format (Click here for file ) Changes will be accepted up to 30 minutes prior to the meet.     Rules To ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone, all members and guests must follow the rules below. Lifeguards and the Pool Committee have full authority to enforce these rules at all times 1. Supervision & Children Children under 5 years old , and non-swimmers aged 6–8 , must have a guardian in the water within arm’s reach at all times. The guardian must be 14 years of age or older . Children 11 years and under (as of September 30) must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible person aged 14 years or older. Children who are 11 years old as of September 30 may attend the pool independently only for scheduled structured activities (e.g., swimming lessons, Leaders events). Lifeguards and the Pool Committee reserve the right to suspend these privileges if pool rules are not respected. Children who are not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper . 2. Deck & Facility Safety No running on the pool deck. Maintain a clear 1-metre safety zone between the water’s edge and the yellow line at all times. Chairs and personal items are not permitted in this area. No glass containers are allowed on deck. No smoking or vaping anywhere on pool premises. Picnic tables and benches are for seating only — no running, standing, or jumping on them. Only pool members, registered guests, and authorized visitors may enter the pool grounds 3. Lifeguard Authority Lifeguards must not be disturbed or distracted while on chair duty. All instructions given by lifeguards must be followed immediately. 4. Pool & Swimming Conduct Shower before entering the pool No dangerous entries into shallow water Prolonged and repeated breath-holding is prohibited, except as part of a supervised activity. No hanging on lane ropes or the deep-end rope. No pushing, dunking, roughhousing, or intentionally splashing others. Spitting water is not permitted. Do not use the pool if you have an open sore or rash or contagious skin conditions or are experiencing nausea, vomiting or diarrhea. Water guns, Nerf guns, and water balloons brought from home are not allowed. 5. Diving Board & Deep End Rules No diving in the shallow end. Wait until the previous diver has completely exited the water before diving or jumping. Do not climb the diving board steps until the previous diver has left the end of the board. Do not grab, hang from, or reach up to the edge of the diving board during free swim. Somersaults, back dives, and inward dives are not permitted during free swim. Starting blocks may only be used during lessons or swim team practices. 6. Baby Pool Constant adult supervision is mandatory Children must be within arm’s reach of a responsible adult. Lifeguards or designated surveillant must supervise the pool.
